Parliamentary Review puts spotlight on Agencia success story

A COMPANY from East Yorkshire which is making its mark in the UK and overseas has earned a high profile seal of approval with a prestigious recommendation for best practice in support and reform for health and justice systems.

Agencia, which is based at Hessle, is one of the home-grown success stories picked out to promote the best of British to overseas markets in the latest edition of The Parliamentary Review.

The publication, which includes keynote contributions from leading politicians and business leaders, is seen as an essential briefing document for decision-makers at the highest levels of government and industry.

The inclusion of Agencia is primarily based on the international activities of a company which has been trusted to deliver over 450 contracts in more than 20 countries, developing and exporting British public service expertise to improve government capabilities, transform entire organisations, develop communities and change lives.

It also references Agencia’s Primary Care Direct service, which was set up to provide tailored services to GPs, dentists and pharmacies across the UK and which is currently experiencing increasing demand from health professionals under pressure from the coronavirus pandemic.

Helen Gibson, Managing Director of Agencia, said: “In the current situation we are seeing an increase in our work which is close to home. We have seen an upsurge in in enquiries about our Primary Care Direct support package because people need that extra help and guidance and we have seen an increase in people wanting support with extra capacity and resources.”

The Parliamentary Review, which is jointly chaired by Lord Pickles and Lord Blunkett, seeks to provide a platform for organisations and individuals to discuss their successes, failures and the challenges that lie ahead.

In their joint introductory message they wrote: “It is essential that politicians have a firm understanding of the challenges with which British organisations must contend; and that leaders in both the public and private sectors are aware of the difficulties faced by those working in all levels of politics.

“This is why The Parliamentary Review combines political content with stories from a wide rage of organisations – small and large; new and old; those at the peak of their powers and those who have peaks to surmount.”

In her foreword to the Review Liz Truss, Secretary of State for International Trade, highlighted the importance and the potential to the UK of overseas markets, where Agencia is helping the Department for International Trade develop its strategy as a Northern Powerhouse Export Champion.

In his foreword, British Chambers of Commerce Director General Dr Adam Marshall noted the need to provide certainty and solid foundations for business.

He wrote: “It is businesses that trade, not governments. Our businesses will find customers and make deals, but they need the right conditions and support to prosper locally and globally.”

The Parliamentary Review observed how Agencia’s work has included preparing the ground for British investment overseas with projects including tackling corruption in Kenya, guiding judicial reform across the Western Balkans, combatting cybercrime in Barbados and undertaking advocacy work in Malaysia.

Emma Hardy, MP for Hull West and Hessle, described Agencia’s appearance in The Parliamentary Review as “a real achievement and greatly deserved”.
