Northern Lincolnshire Office

For the 450 Chamber members on the south bank of the Humber your local Chamber office, based at ABP Port Office Grimsby, is on hand to offer a wide range of member services.

The office is manned by Manager Anne Tate and Information and Administration Officer Marilyn Waud. They act as first port of call for south bank members and can supply information on all your membership, events, policy and export documentation queries.

Membership and Recruitment

The Northern Lincolnshire office is responsible for recruiting new members to the Chamber on the south bank of the Humber. Current members on the south bank range from our largest industries and businesses such as Tata Steel, Young's Seafood Ltd and Phillips66, down to a wide range of small to medium sized enterprises coverning every aspect of business, industry and commercial activity.  The Northern Lincolnshire office staff have a wide-ranging local knowledge of business services, institutions and personnel, and are always on hand to assist local companies with queries.

Networking Events

The Northern Lincolnshire Office is heavily involved in helping members raise their profile, network and gain business. They specialise in helping our Members promote their products and services, both to their fellow Members and to non-Members. The office organises four networking lunches and four speed networking events a year. These are held at quality member venues throughout the area, such as Forest Pines Hotel and Golf Resort, Humber Royal Hotel and Oaklands Hall Hotel.

As well as organising network lunches on the south bank of the Humber, the Grimsby office also organises the Northern Lincolnshire Business Awards, now the biggest annual business event in Northern Lincolnshire. This Black Tie is held annually in May and alternates between the Grimsby Auditorium and The Baths Hall, Scunthorpe. It is attended by 500 business guests from throughout the entire region. The Chamber Awards, open to all businesses in Northern Lincolnshire, has 13 categories. The Awards are as inclusive as possible and there is an Award for every size and type of business to try for. The Gala Evening is always themed, it is professionally presented and includes quality professional entertainment. An event not to be missed! Further information on these Awards can be found on the dedicated website: www.nlincsba.co.uk.

Policy and Representation

The area is well served for Policy and Representation issues with two Area Councils being co-ordinated from the office. Serving North and North East Lincolnshire, they are chaired by local business leaders thus ensuring the voice of business from the south bank of the Humber is heard loud and clear. The Area Councils meet quarterly and the usual format is for a speaker of business interest to address the meeting, followed by an open discussion, before matters of more specific Chamber interest are discussed. Our speakers vary from the Regional Agent for the Bank of England to our local Chief Executives and elected Members from the two south bank local authorities, North Lincolnshire Council and North East Lincolnshire Council, to other agencies, such as the Environment Agency or the Chief of Police. All this helps to put the local business view across to our communities’ leaders and decision makers.

Members from Northern Lincolnshire also take their place on the Chamber’s Board, Council and Shipping Committee, thus ensuring that a local south bank voice is able to make its representations heard at every level of policy-making within the Chamber.

International Trade

Local exporters can take advantage of a comprehensive export documentation service which is offered through the Chamber’s office at ABP Port Offices, Grimsby. Staff familiar with the local export market are on hand to offer a same day ‘express’ service for those urgent exports or a ‘next day’ service for those not in quite such a hurry. Both staff are fully qualified in European export documentation and can stamp European Certificates of Origin and other documentation on behalf of Northern Lincolnshire exporters. The office also has electronic certification for European documentation and can train local exporters who wish to take advantage of this service. The office also publicises to members events being run by the International Trade team in the Hull office, including the Chamber’s export club World Trade @ 1.

For more information about the Northern Lincolnshire Office and all the above services contact Anne Tate or Marilyn Waud on 01472 342981 or email a.tate@hull-humber-chamber.co.uk.
