Logistics Sector Gather in Hull

Logistics Sector Gather in Hull

UKWA gather in Hull - L to R - Peter Ward, Pauline Ward, Dr Alessandro Creazza, John Habergham,

THE region’s logistics sector gathered in Hull on Wednesday, May 15, to debate matters including ‘The Brexit Effect’, staff shortages and the skills gap.  The meeting, organised by the United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA), took place at the River Humber-front offices of specialist shipping, rail and logistics firm Myton Law.

The event was attended by representatives of UKWA member businesses including the John Good Group, the Bowker Group and Trans European Port Services, who heard speakers UKWA Chief Executive Peter Ward, Dr Alessandro Creazza, Senior Lecturer in Logistics & Supply Chain Management at Hull University’s Logistics Institute, Pauline Wade, Director of International Trade at the Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce, and Myton Law’s John Habergham.

The UKWA has over 750 corporate members representing logistics providers, retailers, manufacturers and suppliers of goods and services to the sector.

Commenting on the meeting UKWA Chief executive Peter Ward said, “Given the fast moving pace of today’s logistics sector, and the uncertainties of the current political climate, these regional forums are important to exchange knowledge and information with our members.

2019 is a milestone year for UKWA as we celebrate our 75th anniversary, and the purpose of UKWA has seldom been more significant than the present time.

“Through a range of activities, events and communication channels the association is increasingly facilitating vital knowledge transfer, sharing best-practice and driving the dialogue between the logistics industry and those influencing the policies that will affect the country for many years to come.”

Myton Law provides legal services from its Hull offices overlooking the Humber. In addition to shipping, rail and logistics, Myton Law’s expertise includes insurance, renewables and international trade.

You can visit the UKWA (UKWA Pavilion) and Myton Law (Stand 4078) at Multimodal at the NEC in Birmingham, June 18-20.
