THE Decommissioning & Nuclear Waste Partnership (DNWP) framework will support high hazard risk reduction programmes on the Sellafield site.
Altrad will work on Lots 1 (Remediation), 3 (Retrievals) and 4 (Nuclear Waste), of the framework agreement, which will be in place for an initial nine years with an option for a further 6 years, through to 2040.
Paul Raper, Altrad Business Unit Director (Nuclear: Decommissioning), said:
“We are delighted that Altrad has secured positions across three of the four Lots within the DNWP Framework - a reflection of the strength, depth and versatility of our capabilities across the nuclear decommissioning landscape. Working alongside our valued joint venture partners, we are proud to bring together complementary expertise and a shared commitment to deliver Sellafield’s mission safely and efficiently. This success reinforces Altrad’s long-standing partnership with Sellafield and our continued dedication to supporting high hazard reduction, environmental stewardship, and meaningful social impact in the local community.”
DNWP will support activities related to retrieving waste materials from the site’s oldest facilities as well as treating and storing those materials and decommissioning redundant assets. The new programme will replace and build upon the capabilities successfully delivered through the existing Design Services Alliance (DSA) and Decommissioning Delivery Partnership (DDP) ahead of their expiry.
Altrad will also help develop a joint sustainability plan to ensure a collaborative approach which is aligned to local priorities and delivers maximum impact and return on investment. Positive social impact is also a key priority of the framework which includes commitments from each of the partners, aligned to Sellafield’s Social Impact strategy.
