Your Construction Business Has Until October 2026 to Get Waste Compliance Right
Offer available from July 07, 2026
This offer is provided by NGA Dynamics LTD..
Most construction businesses in the Humber region are managing waste compliance the same way they have for years - a mix of paper WTNs, contractor invoices, and spreadsheets that nobody fully trusts.
That's about to become a much bigger problem.
From October 2026, DEFRA's digital waste tracking mandate requires businesses to record and submit waste movements digitally. Paper-based processes will no longer be sufficient. The UK's construction sector - which accounts for around 62% of total national waste - is squarely in scope.
If your business isn't ready, the question isn't whether there will be consequences. It's when.
Three compliance pressures converging at once
The DEFRA digital WTN mandate is the most immediate, but it's not the only one. Construction businesses are currently navigating three overlapping pressures:
1. DEFRA Digital Waste Tracking (October 2026) - waste movements must be recorded and submitted digitally via the new national tracking service. CSV and API submission routes are available, but the data needs to exist somewhere first.
2. BREEAM Wst01 evidence requirements - for any project targeting BREEAM certification, contractors must produce documented evidence of waste diversion rates, segregation, and licensed disposal. This can't be assembled at the end of a project from memory and invoices. It has to be tracked throughout.
3. EA carrier licence liability - if waste leaves your site with an unlicensed carrier and it ends up fly-tipped, the duty of care liability can fall on your business. The Environment Agency fined over £8.5 million across the sector in 2025 alone. The problem isn't always deliberate non-compliance - it's that most businesses have no way to verify carrier licences at the point of collection.
What WasteMapper does
WasteMapper is a digital waste compliance platform developed here in Hull by NGA Dynamics, built specifically for UK construction contractors.
It addresses all three pressures in one place:
- Digital waste logging - a simple five-step form on any device, recording waste type, quantity, carrier, and disposal site as each movement happens. No paperwork, no chasing records after the fact.
- Live EA carrier licence validation - every time a carrier is logged, WasteMapper automatically checks their licence against the Environment Agency's public register in real time. If a carrier isn't licensed, you're flagged before the skip leaves site.
- BREEAM Wst01 evidence pack - at the end of a project, generate a complete BREEAM-compliant evidence report in one click. Waste diversion rates, segregation records, licensed disposal documentation - all compiled automatically from the data already in the system.
- DEFRA-ready export - export your waste movement data in the exact format required for DEFRA's digital tracking service, ready for the October 2026 mandate.
For businesses managing multiple sites or multiple contractors, everything is visible in a single dashboard. When an auditor asks for records, or a client requests environmental documentation for a tender, you're not scrambling. It's already there.
Who it's built for
WasteMapper is designed for SME contractors and developers - businesses that need to be compliant but don't have a dedicated environmental manager. If waste management currently falls to a site manager, a QS, or "whoever deals with it," WasteMapper is built for you.
Pricing starts at £49 per month. We're based here in Hull and work with construction businesses across the UK.
If the October mandate is something you haven't looked into yet, that's exactly the conversation we'd like to have.
