Quickline appoint new CEO as company look to tackle the digital divide with ambitious growth plans

Quickline appoint new CEO as company look to tackle the digital divide with ambitious growth plans

Quickline appoint Sean Royce as their new Chief Executive Officer

QUICKLINE, a leading provider of ultrafast broadband to rural and hard to reach areas, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Sean Royce as their new Chief Executive Officer.

Sean will join Quickline in May following a hugely successful career at KCOM Group where he spent over 18 years in senior roles including that of Managing Director of the company’s Hull & East Yorkshire business. As the lead executive responsible for KCOM’s full fibre roll-out, Sean was pivotal in the region having the first and most extensive full fibre broadband network in the UK.

Furher to Quickline securing four major BDUK grants across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire in late 2020, this appointment comes at an exciting time for Quickline. The company is looking to scale up the business with ambitious growth plans and to provide even more ultrafast broadband services across the North of the UK and beyond.  A digital divide remains in the UK with many rural areas still in desperate need of increased broadband speeds and reliability.

Quickline use a hybrid of technologies including 5G fixed wireless and fibre to reach these areas and continue to pioneer new technologies, often working with government to try and solve the connectivity problems that exist in rural communities.  Its aim is to be the leading UK-dedicated, rural broadband infrastructure provider, delivering innovative, flexible and hybrid solutions that can address the millions of premises unlikely to be served commercially by full fibre networks for many years to come.

“I am delighted to be joining such an innovative and vibrant organisation that embraces the challenges of rural connectivity issues” Sean Royce said.

“The opportunity here is to change people’s lives for the better. To help them live, work, socialise and shop online when today they simply cannot. Imagine a life without the internet. The digital divide in these areas is getting wider and Quickline want to ensure that no one is left behind.”

Steve Jagger, founder and CTO of Quickline, added, “I look forward to working together with Sean as we build on the great progress Quickline has made in the last year.  We are working hard with local authorities and to support the ambition of DCMS for gigabit capable connectivity, and with Sean’s knowledge and expertise it will strengthen our hybrid approach for much needed improved broadband to rural communities.”
