Businesses in Hull and East Riding can now access funded AAT Bookkeeping training through the Skills Bootcamp initiative, helping address regional skills shortages and build stronger in-house finance capability. With up to 90% funding available for SMEs, employers can upskill existing staff affordably. Courses start in January; places are limited.

Following a period of uncertainty, we’re pleased to share that there is much-needed clarity surrounding the future of government funding for Level 7 apprenticeships and wider changes across the apprenticeship landscape. These developments are particularly significant for employers and learners in the accountancy profession.

The recruitment landscape for accountancy firms in the UK is increasingly challenging. During a recent roundtable discussion, representatives from Turpin Accountants, Dutton Moore, Southgates, 360 Chartered Accountants, Appoint Consulting, ICAEW, and members from FI gathered to share their insights and experiences regarding the prevalent skills shortage in Hull. The conversation, led by FI CEO Gareth John, highlighted a spectrum of issues and potential solutions to tackling the recruitment crisis.
