Changes to Australian Export Health Certificates

Changes to Australian Export Health Certificates

Defra has been notified that the Australian Government will update its export systems on Monday 6 July 2026, which is later than the previously announced date of Monday 15 June 2026.

From 6 July 2026, new export health certificates will be issued by the Australian competent authority. While the content of these certificates will remain unchanged, there will be changes to the format. This will include a move to plain paper and the addition of a code to enable verification of the certificate’s authenticity.

As goods may be in transit during this change, there will be a transition period during which both old and new certificate formats will be in use. Both formats will remain acceptable for goods entering Great Britain after 6 July 2026.

Certificates issued in the old format will remain valid until their normal expiry date.
