Chamber Expo to focus on energy security, stalled projects and net zero transition as leading experts are confirmed for panel

ENERGY, power and connectivity will be the primary focus of a major business exhibition in the Humber on Tuesday, June 2.

The team from Energy Voice have pulled together a dynamic panel of industry experts to discuss the challenges facing the energy industry in the Humber and to highlight the key issues holding back the investment which businesses are queuing up to make.

The Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce’s business Expo Lunch will host a discussion between Energy Voice Editor Ed Reed who will be in conversation with energy champion and Grimsby and Cleethorpes MP Melanie Onn, before taking questions from VIP guests.

After lunch, at 2.30pm, E-FWD will hold a focused discussion on balancing energy security, unlocking stalled projects and accelerating the transition to net zero.

Dr Emma GuthrieThis panel will examine the stark choices facing energy companies, investors and policymakers and look at:

  • How the UK can navigate between maintaining energy security and achieving net zero ambitions.
  • What policy interventions could unlock stalled projects?
  • Can traditional energy companies pivot successfully to renewables, or is this work better suited to new energy specialists?

Panellists will include Dr Emma Guthrie, CEO of The Hydrogen Energy Association (pictured). Remi Ahmed, Senior Associate, Pinsent Masons;  Sven van den Bedem, Humber Expansion Manager, Northern Endurance Partnership, and Richard Gwilliam, a Director of Drax Group, a Chamber of Commerce Board member and Chair of the Humber Energy Board.

The audience will be able to question the panellists towards the end of what promises to be a very insightful and constructive afternoon session which anyone is welcome to attend.

Places for the lunch are limited and there are still a handful of stands left for Chamber Expo itself, priced at £249 + VAT, so please book for both of these online www.hull-humber-chamber.co.uk/expo.

Among the many attractions this year will be interactive displays and activities centred around Robotics and VR technology in conjunction with Init Creative and Bishop Burton College.

There will also be the Chamber Motor Show in the outside space, featuring a fantastic selection of the latest in automotive technology showcasing the latest EV developments, as well as a display from Hull City Council’s fleet highlighting their transition to cleaner mobility.
