Chamber AGM’s networking lunch to help shape future growth in our region

Dame Diana Johnson MP and Tom Riordan – discussing how to shape the future of the North at the Chamber’s AGM lunch.
A PARLIAMENTARY update from a Government Minister and shaping the future of growth in the North will be the focus of discussions at this year’s AGM networking lunch with the Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce.
Hull North and Cottingham MP Dame Diana Johnson, the Minister of State for Work and Pensions, will be joined by Tom Riordan, Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ envoy dedicated to Northern Growth at the event which will take place at Hull’s MKM Stadium on Friday, March 6, from noon.
Following their talks, a Question and Answer session will be held to enable business leaders and guests to give their thoughts and views on what would be of most benefit to the region’s development.
Among the topics being discussed will be Hull’s recent omission from the Northern Powerhouse Rail announcements and the latest plans to electrify some of the Hull to Selby line utilising trains with the latest battery bi-modal technology which may prove to be a more cost-effective solution to a long-standing challenge and ambition.
Tom Riordan’s responsibilities include Ministerial and Parliamentary support, commercial and growth strategy and building strategic partnerships. He was previously the Chief Executive of Yorkshire Forward and Leeds City Council, before taking a secondment to NHS Test and Trace in 2020.
Attendees can look forward to a tasty lunch, followed by an informative and wide-ranging discussion.
