September to bring big improvements for Beverley and Hornsea buses

September to bring big improvements for Beverley and Hornsea buses

Night Bus in Beverley

  • New Beverley Locals bus launched, linking all the different parts of Beverley
  • Brand new late night services will get people home from Beverley pubs and restaurants
  • New link to start between Hornsea and Castle Hill Hospital

BUS company East Yorkshire has announced that from 5 September it will be revamping its Beverley and Hornsea buses to create more opportunities for travel in the towns.

The improvements, which are the biggest shake-up of buses in the area for several years, will include two new services around Beverley, plus a new link to allow Hornsea residents to get directly to Castle Hill Hospital without having to change buses.

The new Beverley Locals buses will link Molescroft, Butterfly Meadows, East Riding Community Hospital, Swinemoor, Beckside, Lidl, Flemingate and Lincoln Way with Beverley Town Centre, making it much easier to get between all areas of the town.  Great for commuters, day tickets will cost a maximum of £3 on these services, and concessionary passholders travel for free.

At the same time, the Beverley Day Ticket zone will be extended out to Tickton, Leconfield and Woodmansey, bringing with it better value travel options for customers in these villages who need to pop into town.

The new Beverley Locals buses will also have late night journeys on Fridays and Saturdays, allowing people to get home safely after a night on the town.

Hornsea will see two new services, with existing Services 240 and 246 replaced by new Services 24 & 25.  Service 24 will provide a service direct from Hornsea to Hull, while new Service 25 will go to Beverley, and then on to Castle Hill Hospital, Willerby, Anlaby and Hessle.  Sunday buses between Beverley and Hornsea will also return.

Other services in and around Beverley will also see changes, with new routes and times, including new Service 23 between Beverley and Hull.

East Yorkshire’s Area Director, Ben Gilligan, said the new services should give people more opportunities to travel.  “People in Hornsea have been telling us they’d like a link to Castle Hill Hospital, so it’s great that we’ve been able to provide this,” he said.

“Beverley is now one of the best connected places in the region for buses, with regular services to Hull, York, Driffield, Bridlington, Hessle, Cottingham and Hornsea.  Beverley has a vibrant night scene, so the new late night Beverley Locals services will help support our region’s amazing restaurants and bars by giving people a safe and easy way to get home.”

Details of all the new times and services can be viewed at eastyorkshirebuses.co.uk, and the company will also be giving out copies of their new Beverley Bus Guides at Wednesday Market on 25 August or Saturday Market on 28 August.
