Not Home Alone project benefits from Bradbury Foundation Grant

THE charity, established in 2016 started by holding an event on Christmas Day attended by senior citizens over the age of 65 who are alone with no immediate family surrounding them.  Many of the people attending do not see anyone throughout the year apart from things like doctors or hospital appointments. Over the years the charity has expanded its event calendar to try and bring these guests together more often, building a community, friendships and treasured memories.

Not Home Alone applied to the Bradbury Foundation for grant funding to support their Autumn Lunch. The Bradbury Foundation selected this project for as they felt it was truly amazing that a group of volunteers not only bring these people together and help to alleviate social isolation, but also provide the transport and their precious time, particularly on days like Christmas Day and the trustees felt this way so admirable.

Alison Mitchell from the Bradbury Foundation met with Nina Stobart, Chair of the Trustees from Not Home Alone to present her with a cheque and a bear from the Foundation.

Speaking of the award Nina said; “We are so grateful for this donation — it has truly made a difference.

With thanks also to our amazing team of volunteers who work hard to ensure every guest has a wonderful experience. As a small, self-funded charity, every penny we raise goes directly to supporting our guests, and none of this would be possible without the generosity of donors like you.

Our guests range widely in age — with our eldest being an incredible 103 years old, and each one brings their own stories, laughter, and warmth to our events.

We are proud to have been offering friendship and connection at our lunches to senior citizens who live alone, without immediate family nearby, for over 10 years and with continued support, we hope to do so for many more to come.

We’re now busy planning our next event — the Not Home Alone Christmas Day Lunch. And we look forward to making it another truly special day.

The Bradbury Foundation was established in September 2024 as a grant making foundation. Its aim is to support charitable projects that benefit the communities in Lincolnshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire.  The foundation has so far supported eight well deserving projects that span the region and look forward to continuing to support more charitable projects with its grant support.

Alison Mitchell, Trustee said, “Every project we support has a lasting impact for the communities where the projects are based. As we grow the Foundation, we hope to be able to support many more great causes such as the Not Home Alone Project.”
