Law firm expands 38-year charity golf day with south bank launch

A charity golf day that has raised more than £150,000 over almost 40 years is set to raise even more with its first event on the south bank of the Humber.

For the first time, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire law firm Wilkin Chapman Rollits will host two charity golf days this year, continuing with its longstanding tournament at Brough Golf Club, while also launching a new event at Grimsby Golf Club.

The Brough golf day, which will take place on Thursday 2 July, has been running for nearly four decades, during which time it has raised more than £150,000 for two local charities, Dove House Hospice and Muscular Dystrophy UK.

Now in its 39th year, the event, which first took place in July 1988, has become a fixture in the regional golfing calendar, bringing together companies from across the area for a day of fundraising, sport and networking.

Building on that success, the inaugural south bank tournament will be held on Friday July 17 at Grimsby Golf Club, where the firm hopes to raise even more money for good causes.

It comes after last year's high-profile merger of Lincolnshire and Yorkshire law firms Wilkin Chapman and Rollits.

The Brough tournament will once again raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy UK and Dove House Hospice, while the Grimsby event will be in aid of Alzheimer’s charities.

Businesses from across the region are invited to support both events by entering teams or sponsoring holes.

Robin Simmonds, CEO of Wilkin Chapman Rollits, which employs more than 520 people across Grimsby, Lincoln, Louth, Hull, York and Beverley, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the legacy of the Brough golf day and the difference it has made to charities over almost four decades.

“When we came to arranging the event this year, it felt like a natural step to add a second golf day on the south bank – giving more businesses the chance to get involved and help fantastic causes on both sides of the Humber.
