HETA signs up for five more years at CATCH

TWO of the Humber’s top training organisations have agreed a new five-year deal which will keep the region at the forefront of the drive to prepare young people for careers in industry.

Humberside Engineering Training Association (HETA) has also increased its space at HCF CATCH at Stallingborough as both bodies step up their efforts to provide real-life training experiences.

HETA, which is based in Hull and also has a centre at Foxhills, Scunthorpe, is in its ninth year of delivering training at CATCH. Having increased its space by 50 per cent, HETA has added seven extra welding bays, two classrooms and an electrical workshop.

The company, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year, has built a strong reputation in training for electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, instrumentation, welding and pipe fitting and in recent years has expanded successfully into the renewables sector.

Iain Elliott, Chief Executive of HETA, said: “We see CATCH as the right place for HETA because it is an industry standard training campus with its own ambitious plans for development that will complement our own.

“It is also an important geographical location. We are seeing increasing demand generally from businesses in North East Lincolnshire and in particular we are looking to develop our wind turbine apprenticeships by working with our strategic partners in the offshore sector.”

David Talbot, who took over as CEO at HCF CATCH earlier this year, said: “We are delighted that HETA have committed to at least five more years and have expanded their presence.

“It amounts to further recognition that HCF CATCH is located in the heart of the Humber Energy Estuary and, being industry led, is a great location for apprentices to learn. The CATCH facility is unlike any college. It is a real-life workshop which ensures that apprentices adopt the mindset of a real workplace.”
