East Yorkshire does its part to make the region a little greener

East Yorkshire does its part to make the region a little greener

LOCAL bus operator, East Yorkshire, has welcomed eight new vehicles to its fleet as part of its investment to bring state of the art, environmentally friendly buses to the community.

The addition includes six vehicles that will be hitting the roads of the region as part of East Yorkshire’s main fleet, as well as a double decker coach and a traditional single decker coach.

Those who hop on one of the new service buses can expect state of the art technology complete with Wi-Fi, USB charging slots, next stop announcements and luxury interiors, allowing them to make the most of their time on the bus. Customers who are lucky enough to be heading off around the UK in either of East Yorkshire Coaches’ new additions will also be provided luxury interiors and WiFi.

The move marks a considerable improvement in the environmental impact, replacing some of the older vehicles in the fleet with new Euro VI engines, which produce 95% less nitrogen oxides than their predecessor, Euro V.

Robert Gibson, East Yorkshire’s Chief Engineer, had this to say: “We’re very pleased to see the introduction of eight new vehicles to our fleet. As a public transport company, we’re already helping the environment by reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality and upgrading these buses will assist us in reach our ambitious climate change goals, as well as helping make the environment a little cleaner, and a little greener.”

East Yorkshire’s Head of Commercial, Stuart Fillingham, also had this to say: “Here at East Yorkshire, we’re committed to operating our services in a way that puts them at the heart of the communities they serve, so it was important to us to make sure any new additions to our fleet have everything our customers want. Now, passengers can make the most of the time they spend on the bus, whether that’s answering emails whilst their phone charges, or simply sitting back in comfort and enjoying the view.”

Those who wish to find out more about East Yorkshire’s additions to its fleet, or about the commitment the operator and its parent company, The Go-Ahead Group, have made to ensure sustainability and a cleaner environment can do so by visiting the East Yorkshire website at eastyorkshirebuses.co.uk.
