Getting Ready for Brexit - Commodity Codes and the UK Global Trade Tariff - Online Training Course (AM) - FULL

Date October 19, 2020 Location Online
Getting Ready for Brexit - Commodity Codes and the UK Global Trade Tariff - Online Training Course (AM) - FULL

The international system for coding products for customs purposes when we trade internationally is generally regarded as complex and difficult to understand.  The penalties for wrongly assigning a code to a product could be severe and relying on a freight forwarder’s judgement does not release the producer or shipper from responsibility for accurately describing the goods.

This course guides people through the process and its paperwork steadily and methodically so that everyone can arrive at an accurate HS code for their product with confidence and peace of mind.

The course will also take a look at the new UK Global Tariff (UKGT) which will apply to all goods imported into the UK from 1/1/2021. Businesses should familiarise themselves with the new regime, which should give UK industry a competitive advantage over the EU, will reduce prices and will increase choice for customers.

COURSE PROGRAMME:

The layout of the Customs ‘Tariff’

How Commodity Codes are organised

Using the Tariff

Applying the correct code

Penalties for incorrect declarations

Practical exercises for a wide range of products

UK Global Trade Tariff

COURSE OUTCOME: At the end of this “hands-on” course – with many coding exercises – candidates leave with a solid experience of coding a variety of products, including their own range and can approach further HS coding challenges with complete confidence.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? The course is designed for anyone in the organisation who might be called upon to contribute to a correct description of goods traded internationally for both export and import declarations. This can range from complete beginners to experienced operators who feel the need to refresh their knowledge. It is also suitable for management staff whose role requires supervision or checking of sensitive Customs declarations.

Grant funding is available from HMRC with up to 100% of training cost covered. Please note the availability of this funding is limited and eligibility criteria applies. Please click here to find out more (https://www.customsintermediarygrant.co.uk/)
