Dr Malcolm Joslin
Communications & External Affairs Manager
Dr Joslin is Communications and External Affairs Manager for BP’s European Acetyls business, based at the Saltend chemicals site near Hull and has been involved in stakeholder engagement in the region on behalf of BP for over 20 years. He has been closely involved in securing almost £1b of investment at Saltend since the late 1990’s. In addition to his role with the Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce, Malcolm is also a Director of Sirius, a successful enterprise support agency set up by BP in 1999. He is a board member of the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) as well as the Humber Education Business Partnership and also Young Enterprise (Humber). In 2011, he became a Trustee of the Humber Engineering Training Association (HETA) which reflects his continuing commitment to develop young talent through schools engagement, work experience, apprenticeships and higher education.
Tata Steel UK Limited
Group Senior Manager, Scunthorpe Site
Richard Adams is currently Site Implementation Manager, Supply Chain Transformation, Long Products Europe for Tata Steel in Europe, based at the Scunthorpe site that manages the Long Products Business covering sites in Scotland, North East Lincolnshire and France. Richard’s background is predominantly manufacturing, project and product management and spans 27 years in the Steel Industry working from a North Lincolnshire base. In addition to his role with the Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce, Richard is a board member of the newly-constituted Humber Local Enterprise Partnership, Past President of the Lincolnshire Iron and Steel Institute and previously completed 14 years in school governance. He is active in supporting local schools and colleges, linking in with Industry at all levels and promoting what the area has to offer those currently within education. A family man, Richard has two grown-up children currently following engineering careers, one from a professional engineer approach and the second from a teaching perspective. Outside of work, he’s a keen sportsman, but has now moved from individual and team sports to more recreational sports(as age caught up!). Last year he rode from Land’s End to John O'Groats for charity. Next year (2014) will see him undertake his first (and maybe only!) marathon, targeting the London Marathon in April.
