Howard was appointed Chamber President at our AGM on 4 March 2011
Following a degree in Civil Engineering at Manchester University Howard embarked on a career in the Water Industry lasting thirty two years.He was responsible for the design and construction of many structures and installations and spent a period of time as a Panel Engineer under the Reservoir Safety Act being responsible for the structural safety and integrity of large reservoirs until the early nineties.
Following achieving a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) Howard went on to be responsible for Business Relationships and Services until his retirement in 2008.
Howard now has his own Company, Customer First, specialising in business development,sales and strategic relationships.
Howard has a strong belief in charitable giving and and through membership of organisations such as Round Table and Rotary has supported many fund raising events over the years.His nominated charity for his year as President is The Dove House Hospice Love You 2 Appeal which has been launched to raise funds to support the completion of the Hospice site at Chamberlain Road.
Howard has been involved with the Chamber for more than fifteen years and is looking forward to working with business for the benefit of the Humber region in the year ahead.

Matt Jukes
Port Director
ABP Hull & Goole
Matt, 39, joined ABP’s operational board in October 2005, when he became Port Director, Short-Sea Ports. He was promoted to his current position of Port Director, Hull & Goole, on 1 February 2008.
Matt joined ABP in 1994 as a Dredging Technician and has worked in many positions throughout the Company, including as Quay Foreman and Assistant Operations Manager at Grimsby & Immingham, and as Marketing Manager and Operations Manager at Hull. He later became Deputy Port Manager, Hull & Goole. While working at Hull, Matt was involved in the development of the contract extension, further investment and subsequent expansion of the Finland Terminal. He also worked extensively on the planning and application process for ABP’s new short-sea container facility at the port, which was granted Government approval in December 2005.
Matt’s interests include the history of polar exploration along with collecting antiquarian books on this subject, classic cars and motorsport.
Matt is married to Caroline and they have three children (William aged 7, Elizabeth aged 5 and Hannah aged 23 months).
