The Chamber's President and Vice President are elected every year by members at the Chamber's AGM.
President
Russ Garbutt
Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport
Russ was appointed Chamber President at our AGM on 26 February 2010.
He spent his formative years at Hull Trinity House Navigation School before embarking on a forty year career in the British Merchant Navy in various Companies and ship types, culminating in Command with P&O Ferries (North Sea) Ltd on the “Norland”, “Norbay” and “Pride of York”. He is currently a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Fellow of the Nautical Institute and Chairman of the Humber Branch and a Younger Brother of Hull Trinity House.
For a number of years Russ has been actively involved on the NUMAST Welfare Funds Committee which administers the residential and Nursing home facilities at Mariners Park, Wallasey. He also sits on the East Yorkshire committee of the charity Seafarers UK – formerly King Georges Fund for Sailors.
With his nautical background, along with continuing interests in transport and logistics and all things maritime he is passionately devoted to shipping and associated businesses.
Born and bred in Hull and living in East Yorkshire he is also very keen to see the full potential across the whole Hull & Humber Chamber region realised for the benefit of all its Members’ businesses and intends to build on the recent positive alliances with that aim in view.
