About the Chamber
The Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce is the modern-day result of a series of amalgamations of smaller, more localised Chambers of Commerce, over the last 170 years. For example, the Hull Chamber, the oldest, was formed in 1837. The Chamber’s core objective remains to help strengthen the local economy by supporting our Members in their business endeavours.
Our Mission Statement reads:
"The objectives of the Chamber are to promote and encourage commerce, industry and shipping in the Humber region and to protect and serve the interests of our Members locally, regionally and nationally."
The Chamber has 1500 direct Members and 400 affiliates, of all types and nature of business. The area covered is the Humber region - North East Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. We represent a more diverse cross-section of companies than any other business organisation, including a high proportion of the region’s largest companies. We also have a number of Members based further afield who take advantage of the benefits the Chamber offers. The Chamber has offices in Grimsby and Hull.
We are part of a national network of Chambers – the British Chambers of Commerce – which represents 135,000 businesses. Every square inch of the United Kingdom is covered by a Chamber, making 75 in all.
There are five main areas in which we provide support for our Members. These are aimed at helping companies prosper, thereby creating jobs and helping to sustain the region’s economy.
We organise networking events and produce publications, which are designed to raise the profile of our Members’ companies together with their products and services. Also we provide training services through the Chamber’s own training company - Chamber Training (Humber) Limited. Our International Trade Centre assists companies with their exporting projects and organises Trade Missions abroad. The Chamber also represents our Members by lobbying on their behalf to regional and national policy makers. Our experienced staff are well placed to provide all kinds of business advice and information to Members.
The Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce is there to help you make your business successful. In today’s busy and highly competitive business environment, companies need to take advantage of every form of assistance available. We recommend that Chamber Members fully utilise their Membership, by using the services we provide. With our very reasonable Membership fees, the Chamber represents an excellent value-for-money route to gaining that competitive edge in your market.
