Following demand from members, the Chamber is now in a position to offer its members and businesses in the sub region a comprehensive list of Undergraduate and Postgraduate placement and project programmes. These programmes allow companies across the Humber to engage students for a defined period of time. Some of the advantages of these programmes include: 1. University of Hull - Business School (Accounting/Business/Economics/Management/Marketing) Could you and your organisation make effective use of a highly motivated business student? The University of Hull Business School has highly motivated and committed students looking for organisations that can offer work placement opportunities. These students are taking our four-year degrees that include a work placement year. They have made a conscious decision to build relevant professional work experience into their degree programme. University of Hull - Geography Department Environmental Consultancy Projects (General/Environmental) Could you do with FREE environmental consultancy? Do you have an environmental concern that needs more investigating? The Geography department at the University currently runs a programme for its 3rd year students where students carry out an environmental project for a company. Some previous examples have included looking at the recycling needs of a company, exploring flood risk, looking at company's waste policy's in regard to legislation. The student would work with the company on an informal basis for 3/4 months. For more information, click onto the link above or contact Sally Eden.3. University of Hull Engineering Department (Engineering) The engineering department at the University of Hull is looking for companies interested in taking on an engineering under-graduate. The informal scheme would see an undergraduate entering the company as an employee for either a year long placement or for the summer. However, the exact length of the placement can be determined in conjunction with the Department. The most important thing is for the undergraduate to gain some real experience in an engineering company. For more information, click onto the link above or contact Dr James Gilbert 01482 466379.4. University of Hull - The Department of Politics and International Studies (General/Politics/Economics) The department is looking to build upon its longstanding and successful one-year Westminster placement scheme, which sees students working on a full-time basis with individual MPs. This will be done by placing students from our single honours undergraduate degree programmes, including the new degree in Public Policy, with private and public sector employers in Hull and the East Riding, for the duration of one semester during the students' final year of studies.
