Regional and National Issues
The Chamber works hard to represent its members’ interests at local, regional and national levels.
By partnering with more than 50 Chambers of Commerce around the country we have a stronger voice on issues that affect more than just our members.
British Chambers of Commerce
BCC is the national body for Chambers of Commerce, lobbying and working with Government to shape policy affecting UK businesses. The BCC policy team is led by Director General David Frost and has specialist advisers on a range of business issues.
The Quarterly Economic Survey, one of the most respected surveys of its kind, is co-ordinated by BCC’s economic adviser, who collates the results and publishes a national report. BCC also frequently comment on issues affecting business in the national media on behalf of the Chamber network.
More information on BCC can be found on its website.
Yorkshire & Humber Chambers of Commerce
The Presidents, Chief Executives and Policy staff from the eight Chambers of Commerce in Yorkshire & Humber meet regularly to discuss cross-cutting issues affecting their members. By working together, we have a more effective voice in regional structures and on regional issues.
The President of Yorkshire & Humber Chambers for 2007-08 is Michael Oughtred, Vice-President of William Jackson and Sons Ltd and a past president of Hull & Humber Chamber.
