Launch of World Trade at One Club - Guest Speaker Ian Campbell dubbed by the Financial Times as "the voice of Britain's exporters"

Last month the World Trade Centre Hull & Humber was officially opened by Peter Mandelson, MEP, and although the partners will not move to No.1 Humber Quays until the New Year, new initiatives to support international traders pan Humber will be introduced as we move towards a fully operational WTC Hull & Humber.

International Traders are cordially invited to attend the launch of the World Trade at One Club (WT@1) on Tuesday, 13th November at Cleethorpes Town Hall. The meeting will be chaired by Mr Winston Phillips, Managing Director of Cosalt Plc sponsors of the WT@1 Club. Cosalt's support means that we are able to offer free membership to all our international traders.

Ian Campbell will be our inaugural speaker. Ian Campbell has 38 years' international trade experience including living and working on five continents in consumer and industrial goods and service industries. From 1992 to 2001 he was Chief Executive of the Institute of Export, where the Financial Times dubbed him "the voice of Britain's exporters".

Awarded the OBE in 2001 for helping to re-shape UK government support for exports he is now Consultant Editor and part-owner of International Trade Today and a freelance writer on trade and investment matters. He advises SME's on taking their first steps overseas, and is Chairman of an Anglo-Spanish IT consultancy and software Development Company.

During his presentation Ian will take a wry look at some of the plusses and pitfalls of doing business overseas. Sub-titled "How Not to Succeed in International Trade" he will consider how companies can improve their prospects of success by learning from others' mistakes.

Pauline Wade, Head of International Trade, has heard Ian speak on many occasions and says he is well worth the journey to Cleethorpes. Managing Directors may wish to bring along members of their international trade team and guests to listen to Ian who is not only amusing but informative.

Meetings will alternate between the North and South Banks of the Humber and we trust that members from both banks will find the programme interesting enough to make the effort to travel to meet and network over lunch with likeminded people.

The WT@1 Club will provide networking opportunities exclusively for those interested in international trade - aimed at being informal yet informative. The WT@1 will meet monthly at 12 noon when there will be a presentation on issues of interest to international traders followed by a light lunch and the opportunity to network (12 noon to 2 pm). A small charge will be made to cover the cost of the lunch.
